The site is chosen on the day, according to conditions, the pilot and how that day is running. No spot is promised.

The Atlantic coast south of Lisbon has several sea-breeze spots, and knowing them is part of what Happy Soaring brings to the day. Transport is not included: the pilot is responsible for their own travel to the flying site indicated by Happy Soaring.

The meeting place and time are sent on WhatsApp as soon as the conditions allow a decision. Whenever possible, we give an indication the day before and confirm on the day itself. The place or the time may be adjusted if the conditions change.

What “a day” means

The day has no start time and no end time. It starts when conditions allow the activity to begin and ends when they are no longer suitable.

Among what can end the day are lack of wind, a change in conditions, excessive humidity or anything that compromises the proper use or the care of the equipment.

Happy Soaring is there

There is no handing over of a wing for you to take away and fly on your own. Happy Soaring is present during the day and manages the equipment, the setups and the day’s operation.

It is not an organised outing: you fly on your own account, with your own decisions as a pilot. Happy Soaring is there to manage the equipment, the setups and the adaptation to conditions.

The pilot

The pilot is responsible for their own flying decisions, for judging whether to keep flying and for the correct use of the equipment.

The pilot is responsible for any damage they cause to the equipment during use.

No deposit or security payment is required.

Happy Soaring

Happy Soaring can prevent or end the use of the equipment when it considers that conditions are no longer suitable, that there is a risk to the equipment, that there is an incompatibility with the pilot or that the service requirements are no longer met.

Can I choose the wing or book a specific wing?

No. You book the day, not the wing. Happy Soaring picks each pilot’s setup on the day, according to experience, weight, conditions and the equipment available.

Can I book a Mullet 2 20 for tomorrow?

The Mullet 2 20 is part of the Happy Soaring pool, but the rental does not reserve a specific wing. Happy Soaring first checks the pilot, the conditions and the equipment available, and only then confirms the setup.

How much is it?

€100 per pilot per day: €30 deposit at booking + €70 remaining, paid on the booked day. The price is the same for any wing or setup.

How does payment work?

Once Happy Soaring has validated the request, you pay a €30 deposit per pilot for each day booked, and the booking is confirmed. One pilot, one day: €30. Two pilots for one day, or one pilot for two days: €60. Two pilots, two days: €120. The remaining €70 per pilot per day is paid on the booked day.

What does “a day” mean? What time does it start?

There is no fixed start or end time. The day starts when conditions allow the activity to begin and ends when they are no longer suitable: lack of wind, a change in conditions, excessive humidity or a risk to the equipment. The length is whatever the day itself allows.

What happens if there are no conditions?

Before Happy Soaring travels to the flying site: if the day is cancelled for lack of conditions, that day’s €30 deposit per pilot is refunded and the remaining €70 is not charged, unless the late-cancellation or no-show rule already applies. After Happy Soaring has travelled to the flying site: the €100 per pilot per day (€30 deposit + €70 remaining) is due and is not refundable, even if flying is not possible. Happy Soaring decides on the conditions and on whether the day goes ahead; flying decisions remain the pilot’s own.

What happens if I cancel or want to change the date?

If you cancel at least 48 hours in advance and do not want to change the date, the €30 deposit per pilot per day is refunded. With the same notice you can instead change the date once; the new date is subject to Happy Soaring’s availability. If you then cancel the new date, there is no automatic rule for refunding or keeping the deposit: Happy Soaring assesses the case individually. If you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, or do not show up, the deposit is not refunded. If Happy Soaring decides not to travel to the flying site, the deposit is refunded, except in those cases of late cancellation or no-show. If Happy Soaring travels to the flying site, the €100 per pilot per day is due and is not refundable, even if flying then turns out not to be possible.

Can I book several days?

Yes. Name the days you want in your request. The booking is made with a €30 deposit per pilot for each day booked, and each day is confirmed according to conditions.

How do I book a parakite day?

To request a day, get in touch by WhatsApp or email. Tell us the dates you want and your details as a pilot. Happy Soaring reviews the request and then confirms whether the day can go ahead, taking into account the conditions, the pilot and the equipment available.

Why choose parakite rental by the day?

Because you are not limited to a single wing. You have access to Happy Soaring’s available parakites and, if the wind or the conditions change, we can adapt the setup and, when another available and suitable size exists, change size. That gives you more chances to make the most of the conditions and fly during the day.

What equipment is included in the rental?

The rental includes the wing (the parakite) and a harness suited to the setup. Happy Soaring chooses them according to the pilot, their weight, the conditions and the equipment available. A specific model or size cannot be booked in advance. The helmet is not included: pilots bring their own helmet.

Do I need a licence?

Yes. A valid pilot licence is required, and Happy Soaring checks it before the day.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. Insurance with valid cover in Portugal for the activity is required, and Happy Soaring checks it before the day.

I am a paraglider pilot. Can I rent a parakite?

Only with prior parakite experience. Without it, the path starts with the Parakite course or with Pilot2Wing, and renting comes afterwards.

Is Happy Soaring there? Do I collect the wing and fly alone?

Happy Soaring is present throughout the day and manages the equipment and the setups. There is no handing over of a wing for you to take away and fly on your own. You fly on your own account, with your own decisions as a pilot.

Can I use more than one wing on the same day?

It can happen, when it makes sense for the conditions and for the pilot. It is Happy Soaring’s decision, is not guaranteed and does not change the price of the day.

What if I damage the equipment? Is there a deposit?

No deposit or security payment is required. The pilot remains responsible for any damage they cause to the equipment during use, under the terms and conditions accepted before starting. Those terms set out how each case is assessed and settled.

Is this a guided outing?

No. The rental makes a day available with equipment managed by Happy Soaring, with its knowledge of the conditions and the sites. Each pilot flies on their own account and makes their own flying decisions.
